Cart, checkout and paying by Mobile Money
From a course card to a receipt in five minutes, on the phone you already have.
Buying a course on Ekati takes five minutes and no bank: you put the course in your basket, you pay with MTN Mobile Money or Orange Money from your own phone, and you keep a receipt that names the order, the payment and what you bought. There is no card form and no redirect to a bank’s website.
One thing to know before you start: checking out needs an account. You can browse, read course pages and fill a basket signed out, but the payment section stays locked until Ekati knows who you are. Creating the account takes a name, an email address and a password, and it happens on the payment page itself — you are not sent off to do it somewhere else.
Everything below is in the order you will meet it: the basket, then the payment page, then the confirmation on your phone, then the receipt.
From a course card to a receipt in six steps
One step per screen, and nothing is hidden behind a redirect.
-
Step 1
Add it to the basket
Click Add to Cart on a course card or on the course page. A small basket count appears in the header.
-
Step 2
Review the basket
Open the cart page. Each line shows the course, the school, the price and what you save, with Remove beside it.
-
Step 3
Identify yourself
On checkout, sign in or create an account in the first card. The payment card unlocks as soon as you are identified.
-
Step 4
Choose your operator
Pick MTN Mobile Money or Orange Money and type the number that will receive the payment prompt.
-
Step 5
Confirm on your phone
Place Order, read the confirmation box, then press Confirm & Pay. Your phone asks you to enter your PIN — the page waits for you.
-
Step 6
Keep the receipt
The order confirmation page shows the order reference, the payment method and the total. Your course opens as soon as the payment is validated.
Your basket, before you commit
Everything is checked here, so nothing surprises you at the payment page.
What each line shows
The basket page lists one row per item: the school that offers it, the price, the amount saved if the item is on promotion, and the line total. Courses are bought once, so each row says so rather than offering a quantity box you could fill with ten. Remove deletes a line; Clear cart empties the whole basket.
The totals, and only the totals
The summary panel adds up a subtotal, deducts any price reduction from a promotion and any promo code you entered, then shows the total and what you save overall. A promo code is applied in the same panel on the basket page and again on the payment page, so you can add it either before or after you move on.
Leaving and coming back
The basket is yours, not a session: you can close the tab, come back tomorrow and finish. Nothing expires, and nothing is charged until you press Proceed to Checkout.
Paying for several courses at once
This is what the basket is for. A parent buying two courses for two children, or a school buying a course for a class, adds each course and checks out once — one payment, one receipt, and every course in it opens together.
The payment page, and the forty seconds on your phone
Two cards, one prompt on your phone, no bank in between.
Card one: your account
The first card is Account. Already signed in? It simply confirms who you are. Not signed in? Two buttons offer Signup and Login. Signup asks for your full name, email address, a password and the same password once more. Either way, once you are identified the second card unlocks and the Place Order button becomes usable.
Card two: your payment
The second card is Payment, and for a visitor who has not identified themselves it is visibly locked, with the reason spelled out: payment stays locked until you sign in. This is deliberate — it is what stops an order from being attached to nobody.
MTN Mobile Money or Orange Money
Two choices, and both work the same way. Choose the operator your number belongs to, then type the number in the Phone Number field. Keep your phone in your hand: the prompt arrives there.
What happens when you press Place Order
A confirmation box names the exact amount, the operator and the number about to be charged — read it before you confirm. Then Confirm & Pay sends the request, and the page waits while your phone asks you to enter your PIN and approve. Do not close the tab during this: the page is confirming the payment with the operator.
If something goes wrong
If the operator refuses or the confirmation never arrives, the page says Payment failed and offers Retry payment on the same order — not a new one, so you are never charged twice for a single purchase.
Your receipt, and what comes next
One screen that answers every question a parent might ask you later.
What the confirmation page shows
Order Confirmed opens with your order reference in large type and its status beside it. Under that: the payment method, the order reference again, the provider reference given by the mobile money operator, any promo code used, and the dates. Below that, the list of items you bought with the subtotal, the discount and the total.
Read the status, not just the heading
The heading says confirmed; the status is the finer truth. If it still reads processing, a notice explains that the payment is being validated and that your courses will be available once it is — which usually takes minutes, and occasionally a little longer at the start of a term. Once the status becomes validated, the notice changes and your courses are open.
From the receipt to your courses
Continue Shopping takes you back to the catalogue, View Orders opens your full purchase history, and once your order is validated a My Courses link takes you straight into your courses.
Every past order is kept
Your orders page lists every purchase with its reference, status, items, payment method, total, promo code and date, and each one links back to its receipt. If a payment is ever questioned — by a school, a sponsor or a family member — that page is the answer, and the reference is the first thing to quote.
Cart and payment questions
Asked by people paying from a phone for the first time.
-
Do I need an account to check out?
Yes. You can browse, read course pages and fill a basket without one, but the payment section on the checkout page stays locked until you sign in or create an account. Creating it takes a full name, an email address and a password, on that same page.
-
Which payment methods can I use?
MTN Mobile Money and Orange Money. You choose the operator, type the number that will receive the prompt, and approve the payment on your phone. No bank card is accepted.
-
Will I be charged twice if something goes wrong?
No. If the operator refuses the payment, the page offers Retry payment on the same order rather than creating a second one. And if a payment is still processing, the order page keeps its status visible instead of letting you pay again.
-
How long until I can start the course I paid for?
Usually a few minutes. Your order confirmation page shows the status, and when it changes to validated the courses open and a My Courses link appears. If the status is still processing much later in the day, write to the team through the contact page with your order reference.
-
Can I buy more than one course in a single payment?
Yes, and that is what the basket is for. Add each course with Add to Cart, then press Proceed to Checkout once. Every course in that order opens at the same time, under the same order reference.
