Notifications: everything the school has sent you

The screen where school messages, results and payment alerts arrive, newest first.

Notifications is the school’s letterbox, inside your account. When the office sends you a message, when a result is published, when a payment is recorded or an instalment falls due, it lands here — and on the bell in the top bar, so you do not have to come looking for it.

It is deliberately a list rather than a dashboard. Each entry has a title, a short body, the date and time it arrived, and a bold title if you have not read it yet. Tap an entry to open whatever it points to, and it counts as read straight away.

Nothing is ever deleted from here. If you were told something in a message, you can find it again months later.

Find a message in three steps

The bell for a quick look, the page for everything.

  • Step 1

    Tap the bell

The bell sits at the top right, next to the language and theme buttons. A red number on it tells you how many messages you have not read.

  • Step 2

    Read the ten most recent

The panel that opens shows the last ten messages with a one-line preview each. Mark all as read clears the number in one tap.

  • Step 3

    Open Notifications for the rest

Tap All Notifications at the bottom of the panel to reach the full page, where you can search and page back through older messages.

What the four kinds of message are for

Four families of message, each answering a different worry.

Messages from the school

General notices from the office: a change to the timetable, a meeting, a piece of information about the class. These are broadcast-style messages and are the ones most likely to arrive by email or WhatsApp as well as here.

Results and corrections

When a teacher publishes a correction or a new result, you are told. The entry points you straight at the page where the marks are, so you can read the detail rather than only seeing that something happened.

Payment alerts

These follow your fees: a payment recorded against your file, a receipt ready to download, an instalment coming up for payment. They are the fastest way to know that money you handed over has been taken into account.

Admissions and account news

Decisions about your enrolment, your class or your group, and anything to do with your account itself. Read these carefully: a change of class or a new registration is not something the school repeats many times.

Reading, searching and clearing the bell

Three small behaviours that keep the list useful.

Bold means unread

An entry you have not read has a bold title and a highlighted border. Opening it marks it read and the bold goes away. There is no separate delete: reading is the only thing that clears it, which is exactly what you want when a message is a record rather than a chore.

Search when the list gets long

The search box at the top of the page filters as you type. Type a teacher’s name, a class, a reference number or a word from the message you are looking for, and the list narrows to the matching entries. If nothing matches, the page says so rather than showing an empty box.

The list arrives fifteen at a time, with Previous and Next under it and a page counter in between. Reading back through a term takes a few taps and no scrolling.

Turning the bell off

If the number on the bell becomes noise, you can clear it without pretending you have read anything: Mark all as read empties the counter in one tap, and the messages stay on the page for when you want them. Useful at the start of a term, when fifteen administrative notices arrive in one morning.

Notification questions

Asked by students who never saw the message they were given.

  • How do I stop the number on the bell growing?

Open the bell and press Mark all as read. The counter clears immediately and nothing is lost: the messages stay on the Notifications page, in full, with their dates. Reading them afterwards is still possible, and any one of them opens the page it refers to.

  • I did not get a message my teacher said was sent.

Search the page first — a message about a single assessment or a single student is easy to miss in a long list. If it is genuinely not there, it was probably addressed to the class rather than to you, or sent to the email address on your file instead. Check both with your teacher before assuming anything is broken.

  • Do the notifications disappear?

No. Nothing is ever deleted from this list. Reading an entry only marks it read, which removes the bold and the number on the bell. When you need to show someone that a fee was recorded or a result was published, you can still find it months later.

  • Do I get them on my phone when the app is closed?

That depends on whether you have allowed notifications from the site on your phone. Turn them on in your phone settings, and a school message can also reach you by email or WhatsApp if the school has your number on file. Whatever the route, the message is always waiting for you here when you next sign in.
